Into the Deep Blue Marvels of Maldives: Celebrating My 40th In Paradise Part 2

On part 1 of our journey, we showed you how we got to paradise and did our first few explorations in land with rented bikes, and in water with a private boat. We also got to see dolphins and the famous Maldivian sunset.

This time, allow me take you to further into the deep blue marvels of the Ocean paradise with all the exciting activities, delectable flavors, and magnificent views we had the pleasure of experiencing.

DAY 3: Underwater Seascapes & Beachfront Bliss

On our third day, we found ourselves going through a landscaped courtyard that led to a rustic timber door that, upon opening, gave us the sight of a new kind of spacious luxury and comfort. Staying in our new beachfront suit that had its own private pool was well worth the transfer. Even its Middle Eastern design was exceptional. And what’s nice about it, is that the beach is just a few walks away. Aside from getting rocked by the calming sounds of the ocean, we found it easier to get immersed in nature’s finest views.

Now the best highlight of a tropical getaway is exploring its seascapes. Going underwater to see the Coral Garden and the Big Head Reefs is, for me, an experience worth treasuring. The boys had fun diving and wading around the waters, as they marveled at the richness of the marine life below. We enjoyed snorkelling so much that we even stayed longer than expected. On a side note, make sure your underwater camera battery is charged in full. You don’t want to run out of power in the middle of the ocean.

The boys then went for an exhilarating dose of speed as they hopped on board a Fun Tube that was tied to a speed boat that pulled it across the water. Just look at how exciting it is on the photos! It’s definitely an activity that’s not to be missed.

For our final activity, we opted to go and witness a bird’s eye view of Maldives. Parasailing proved to us that the beauty of Maldives is just as breathtaking as seen from high up in the sky.

DAY 5: Cruising the Ocean Equator

On our 6th day, we rented a yacht that cruised the Indian Ocean and headed to the equator. Aside from taking our leaps and having our fill of the underwater seascapes, we all marveled at the mysteries of the equator, that can be spotted by a marker in the ocean. The equatorial current had our boat going around in circles and we we’re left fascinated at how the GPS pointed to zero the moment we got there.

DAY 6: Feasting on Our Day’s Catch

Waking up at 4 in the morning for our big catch adventure was so far the best! We were told that the earlier we got there, the better the chance to snag the biggest catch. What surprised me was how advanced the fishing was. It came with sensors that detected when a fish was around.

We ended up catching three huge fishes that were cooked for us as part of the service we availed. Nothing beat the freshness of fish cooked the same day it was caught!

Later that day, our villa host, Shafeeu Ali extended a warm welcome and offered to tour us to the island of Gan. So we hopped on a boat and tried different kinds of local fruits and delicacies when we got there. We witness the simplicity of the Maldivian way of life and marveled at how the sea influenced the flavors of their cuisine and their cultures.

Our evening was spent enjoying a private dinner by the beach at Shangri-La Villingili. Truly world-class and exceptional, the fine dining service we experienced gave us the relaxation we needed after the exhausting activities we did.

DAY 7: Photo Shoot Around the Island

There are no words to describe how astonishing the powder white sands of Maldives are; and the picturesque views of the serene horizon, in whatever angle you see it, were just plain breathtaking. For our last day, we took our time capturing photographs of each other, with the picturesque views as our backdrop.
